When you are forced to bring your 3 year old twins to a photoshoot with you, you will do anything to keep them happy and occupied. Bring in the IPhone camera app. And yes, the 3 year old can navigate herself to the app. all by herself. Then Mommy comes home and discovers that she documented very accurately the evening!

Perfect Evening Family Shoot
I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable family the other evening. I met the Mommy about a year and a half ago through another friend. You know when you meet someone and you just click...That's how I feel about her. She is always sooo excited to see me and always acts so interested in what I have to say. And believe me, I'm not all that exciting and my life is pretty uninteresting. Except when I'm talking about my girls...They are pretty exciting and keep that spice in my life!
I just love this Mommy and her family is stunning! The girls were dressed, Oh So Sara!! You see I like the "We coordinate but don't match look" and this Mommy perfected it oh so well!
Thank you "G" family for allowing me to invade your life this beautiful evening!

A Little Composition Info.
I have a lot of friends that blog about their lives and families. Many times pictures are taken with Mommy's point and shoot camera. Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a point and shoot. I use mine when we are out and about doing something I want to capture on print. Many times we are outside, sun shining, and kiddos running around like crazy. I will come home upload the pictures to my computer and get the kind of pictures shown below. The sun has planted a huge bright spot on my cute baby's face. These are the kinds of pictures I just delete. But here are some, so you can look at them.
Avoiding the sun shining on your child's face is pretty easy. Place the child either directly in front of the sun or directly behind the sun. If you place the child in front of the sun and it's behind them, make sure to use your flash. This will brighten the child's face and not make your child look like they are sitting in the dark. Just pull out your owner's manual and figure out how to make the flash go off no matter what. You could also sit the child in the shade where the sun is out of the picture and a non issue. In my next post, I'll post pictures that I used my point and shoot to take and demonstrate the techniques I have just described.

Beautiful Backlighting
I really love the look of backlighting. It's when you take a picture with the sun behind the subject. I've been practicing and here are a few shots. There are some really great photographers that are masters at backlighting. Take a look at http://tonyajoy.com/myjoy, she takes beautiful pictures. She also has 4 children and has time to do everything.
